The levelofefficiencyachievedinthediffusionofknowledgewithinanorganisationisacknowledged to beacompetitiveadvantage.Asaresult,variousmeanshaveemergedtohelpsharethisknowledge. Amongthevariousexistingsolutions,theuseofparameterisedfilesconsistentlyencapsulatingdataof a refinedlevelofgranularity(e.g.figures,words,etc.)isawell-knownpractice.However,thesefiles– which wewillcallParameterisedKnowledgeObjects(PKOs)–oftenexhibitredundancy.Thishasledto a needformapping,afastidiousworkwithnoaddedvalue,whichslowsdowntheproductredesign process. Thegoalofthisarticleistoproposeaconceptualmodelfortheimplementationofan automatedtooltomanageexchangesbetweenthesePKOs.Theimplementablenatureofthemodelwas validatedbythedevelopmentofademonstrator,testedonanapplicationprovidedbyourindustrial partner—the RenaultPowertrainTechnologyDesignDepartment
